Stanzin Dorjai Gya lives in Leh, Ladakh, India and has frequent speaking engagements and screenings in his country and around the world.
In 2018, Stanzin Dorjai Gya and “The Shepherdess of the Glaciers” returned for screenings in the US in September and October, and in France in November and December. “Grandir au Ladakh,” was shown in Europe and was awarded Best Documentary in the River to River Florence Indian Festival in December 2018.
Some Past Highlights:
On August 21, 2013, he participated in a TEDx Leh talk with other change makers and pioneers from this part of the world.
In December 2015, he presented his films “Jungwa: The Broken Balance” and “Lighting Up Himalaya,” which both showcase climate change, mitigation and adaptation, at the United Nations COP21 Paris Climate Change Conference.
“The Shepherdess of the Glaciers” was released in early 2016 and went on to win over 20 awards, including the Grand Prize at the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival 2016. The film made its US premiere at The Trailing of the Sheep Festival in 2017. Later that year, it was also shown at the Rubin Museum in New York City.
